At that time, women were just starting to join the work force. Women started to work in textile mills in coal mines.
Socialist values were emerging in the industrial revolution, as workers begin to protest and fight for more equal rights. I think that women caught onto the idea that they don’t have to be mistreated and things can change.
It must’ve varied by class though. Richer women probably didn’t go out to work in coal mines, they were already well off. Poor women worked hard and show first hand the struggles.
