how is this map different from a typical map of the united states?

i couldn't get the map to paste here but it is of the eastern united states with all the states names crossed out and irish names put in. circa 1900's

i think it was during the potato famine when irish immigrants were arriving in the united states in large numbers and people then thought the united states would be overrun by the irish and the names of everything would be changed to irish namnes.

based on the scenario you described, i think it's a projection of another timeline if we're not colonized by the British.
Something like : 'if ireland was the one that colonized Eastern north America instead of England'

Even the name of the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean have Irish names.

Yes, the Irish Potatoe Famine was a reason for Irish people to emigrate to the United States and they were looking for jobs and better living conditions for their families. So American citizens saw this amount of Irish immigrants coming and feared that they would take many jobs that belonged to U.S. citizens.
