6p + 12 = 4 + 2p ( subtract from both sides 2p) -2p
4p + 12 = 4 (subtract from both sides 12) - 12
4p = - 8 (divide by 4) /4

6p+12=4+2p

6+12−12=2+4−12 (12 is written 2 times to show that you have to subtract 12 on both sides

6=2−8

6−2=2−8−2 (subtract p on both sides)

(now simplify) 4p= -8

then Divide 4p and-8

So p= -2
