I have been confused with rounding to 3 decimal places with more than 2 over 5 numbers (if that makes sense)

E.g: 4.4965 rounded to 3 decimal places.

If anyone could show me how to do this I would appreciate it.

Respuesta :

The third decimal place is the third one to the left; using the example 4.4965, the 6 is the third place (or the thousandth's place).  So you would look at the number in front of it (in this case, 5) and if it is 5 or more, you round up. So the answer for this problem is 4.497.  I hope this helps you!
