In Night by Elie Wiesel, a boy beats his father to death for food. If it was not a circumstance of starvation and survival, he most likely would not have done that. Elie thinks that it is horrible but soon has thoughts of how much easier it would be without his father around. In reality, humans are considered animals too. If threatened or put in the position of survival, we're more likely to do whatever it takes to live a little longer.
