Should the comma in the sentence below be there?

"After several years as a resident, they will be able to execute surgeries without supervision by other surgeons."

It can be there it’s not wrong but I think it would also be fine without it, so either
I recommend you keep the comma, although I do not think it’s a grammatical error if you remove it.
