In English I once had to write a paper like this and I used the topic Immigration. My three main points were about the status (past, present, and future).
Past
- factors that caused people to immigrate
- the assimilation of culture that was slowly developing
Present
- how the current status differs from the past
- how stigmas were forming over immigrants
Future
- some promising expectations
- new ways people could earn their citizenship
