Both of these winsome poetries, “The world is not a Pleasant Place” and “I am Nobody” have carbon-copied intentions and schemes behind them. But what makes them slight poles apart is that Giovanni’s piece shines more on always never being alone, and having the integrity to a best buddy who’s got your back. On the other hand, Dickinson was more of the star of that poem, she composed her masterpiece as an illustration of her self-exile in a private world of her own, insignificant. She was under the impression of as was nobody in the world.
