PLEASE HELP!!!
Identify at least 3 facts the state knows about the citizens life. In what ways is the citizen “unknown” to the state? Why might the state have heard nothing about these aspects of the citizens life?

The poem: The unknown citizen

Respuesta :

Answer:

The Unknown Citizen is both sarcastic and disconcerting, written by Auden to emphasize the role of the individual and the progressively featureless system of government that can arise in any country, with any type of leadership, be it left-wing or right-wing.

Explanation:

The tenor of the poem is bureaucratic and proven, the speaker more than likely a suited civil servant voicing the isolated view of the state.

The unknown citizen is diminished to a mere number, a series of letters; there is no name, no birthplace or mention of loved ones.

Ways where the Citizen is 'Unknown' to the state

He's a solid type of guy whom you would want to live next door. He kept up with household goods, obeys to all public rules. An ideal citizen who is accustomed to regular and will certainly not question the settled life, unless the state call on him for purposes of war.

The state has not heard nothing about the aspects of citizens life because, the state called him “a saint” from the state’s perspective, having “served the Greater Community.” The words used to describe him—“normal,” “right,” “sensible,” “proper,” “popular”—indicate that he is considered the ideal citizen. He is praised as “unknown” because there was nothing interesting to know.
