The problem with retirement is that people think retire and think they have to do nothing else after so many years of hard work. That is when people start to die because they get bored and lack of ambition. If people would retire in order to do more and better thinks that cold have not been done because they were working, then, retirement wouldn't be so difficult for many people. So the factors that could influence retirement are the anticipatory decision moment that could be prolonged for years, the moment of making the decision, the day you retire, the adjustment after retiring, and the activities to do after retirement.

Several factors affect a persons adjustment to retirement. These are:

  • The type of job they had before retirement. The type of jobe a person worked can help him or her to adjust better to life of retirement. This can determine how well a person was able to save while they were still working and also the kind of pension that he is to receive.

  • The health status of the retiree is also a very important factor that influences this adjustment. A healthy person would adjust better after retirement.

  • A person's personality and lifestyle influences adjustment. A retiree who is fit and exercises regularly would live a healthy lifestyle after retirement.

  • Social support from those around including the family, is also very helpful for adjustment.
