Nepal is a country that is found in South Asia, the country lies between China and India. There is a lot about Nepal that could be learned about such as geography,  the culture of the country, and of course the history. Here is the wonderful history of Nepal.

Nepal has the greatest altitude change in the world. Which means that the lowlands are low and the mountains are the tallest in the world. The best known hills are of course the Himalayas. The Himalayas were formed before all of us were born, by this I mean 10-15 million years ago. Also, eight of the world's highest mountain peaks are found in Nepal.

The majority of people in Nepal practice Hinduism although some people practice both Hinduism and Buddhism. Another important part of their culture is that they are divided into four different groups; The Hindu Caste, The Bhotes, The Hill Tribes, and The Newar. There are also multiple hill tribes such as The Sherpas who are born way up in the mountains. A lot of the Nepalese live in the central hilly region. The Ganges river is a River that floods this area making the land very fertile for crops.

The Buddha was born in 563 B.C. in Lumbini, a town fairly close to the Indian border. Nepal was a very powerful country in South Asia, although the British controlled them at the time which lead Nepal being forced into signing treaties to give land to Britain.

Most westerners know the mountain named as Mount Everest, which was in fact named after British Surveyor Sir George Everest. The locals of Nepal don't refer to the mountain as "Mount Everest" in fact, they refer to it as Chomolungma which translates to "Goddess Mother Of The World". Another fact about the mountain in Nepal is that many people have attempted to climb it but have failed.

Hope this helped!!
