During Ottoman Empire thousands of Armenians were killed during first world war, from 1915 to 1923. Historians recognize that genocide happened but Turkish government is still denying it. Armenian Genocide Recognition is the formal acceptance of it by various countries. Countries like Brazil, Canada, France, Germany and Italy openly accept it but US is still adamant. Although there is acceptance of the events at the State level but it is still missing at national level. The US ambassador's words in the above paragraph confirms that US is unwilling to accept and also that Turkey and US agree regarding the question of genocide.
