A cell spends about 85 to 90 percent of its time in Interphase and the rest in Metaphase ( 15 to 10%) This is because after cytokenesis occurs the cell must grown and carry out its function in the body, without enough time in interphase the body would have more cells than it could support and it would suck your energy up until you die (thats what cancer is btw)
