Hammurabi's code was a lot more severe on people, creating the term an eye for an eye. for example one of Hammurabi's Codes is if a builder builds a house that collapsed on the clients son who paid you to build the house, killing him, the Builder's son would also have to die. Or if you could not pay off debts it mostly meant death. in all United States law is a lot more reasonable and less severe than Hammurabi's code
