Tundra biome is the one which has the coldest temperature.
The biome is characterised by little precipitation, frost covered land, short growing seasons, nutrient deficient soil and really low temperatures.
Due to the characteristic features, the tundra biome is almost treeless. However, there are many animals that are found in this biome and mammals are one of them.
The tundra biome can be either arctic tundra or alpine tundra.
In arctic tundra many herbivorous mammals such as arctic hares, voles, squirrels etc. are found. Also, there are carnivorous mammals such as arctic foxes, wolves, polar bears etc. These mammals have fat for insulation to survive in cold temperature.
In alpine tundra also there are many mammals such as sheep, elk, mountain goats etc. that are found.
So it would be false to say that mammals do not live in the tundra.
