Keep the first symbol (-7) - (-8)

Change the next symbol (-7) + (-8)

Flip the last symbol (-7) + (+8)

Since 8 is larger than 7, subtract 7 from 8 ( it equals 1)

Keep the symbol of the the larger number (+)

the answer is +1
