Because the globe is tilted on its axis as it rotates around the sun, we have seasons. During winter, WHICHEVER hemisphere you are in is tilted away from the sun. During summer, it is tilted towards the sun. During Autumn and Spring, the hemisphere is half facing, half away from the sun in mid-orbit.
