A small island in the Pacific with a high rate of speciation has multiple reasons for that, but the two reasons that will stick out the most are:
- Volcanic activity

- Tropical climate
The tropical climate is the climate type that causes the fastest and most extreme erosion because of the almost daily rains, high temperatures, high humidity, and supports lots of plants and microorganism that contribute to the erosion. So the climate will contribute to the fast erosion of the very often created new relief forms, thus creating an interesting and versatile landscape on a small space.
