Sum of ratio = 5 + 8 = 13.

Fraction of savings =   5/13 

Fraction of spending =   8/13 

Savings is     5/13  *  520   =  5 * 40 = 200

Spending is     8/13  *  520   =  8 * 40 = 320

Savings   =   £ 200

Spending =  £320
