On Monday the 13th March 2021 as he was busy with his daily practical, demonstrating to his learners on how to operate a lathe machine, he was summoned to the campus manager's office. Mr. Van Duran left the workshop with the machine still in motion . Learners were left without any instructions whether to stop the machine or carry on. Thabo whom his father owned a mini workshop tried to demonstrate to his fellow classmates on how to operate the machine in the absence of the Lecturer. Tshepo was leaning on the machine when Thabo was demonstrating. Tshepo's unbuttoned shirt got caught by the high speed rotating chuck, pulled his hand and chopped it out. He screamed for help while bleeding and blood was oozing from his injured hand. One learner ran to the classroom next door to ask for assistance.
