Compare and Contrast two fiction stories

1. Choose two of the stories we read in this unit :

“My Lord Bag of Rice”
“Dragonwings”
“Twelfth Song of Thunder”
And write an opening sentence stating which ones you chose and why.

2. List at least one similarity that they share:
- This can be a similarity in genres ( fiction, non-fiction, historical fiction). Also : folktales, myths or a song.
- It can be something in common in setting, plot(events), theme or characters (personification)
- Look at common elements of Heritage in them ( traditions,values, beliefs, culture)
- Why did the author write the story ( or author’s purpose : to entertain, persuade or inform)
3. List at least three differences using the list above.

4. Do not forget to use transition words and phrases such as :

For similarities : likewise, by the same token, in the same way, also, in addition

For differences : on the contrary, on the other hand, however, otherwise

For conclusion : finally, after all, in conclusion
