Scenario: How will the rights of the people be protected?
The colonists set up a government with checks and balances and structures to balance power in either a
federal or state system. But who would protect the rights of the people from the new government? What
would these rights be, and who would be in charge of protecting these rights?
F
A
Any government can become too
powerful. The structures will keep
the power balanced but does not
protect the rights of the individual.
The federal and state governments
will be created to balance power.
Because it is a democracy, the will
of the people will be protected.
C
A federal government will oversee
certain things, but states will have
power to make decisions not in
conflict with the federal govt.
